Thread Title: "Vacuum tubes"
oldmanjeffers

I know, I know this isn't even close to being gun related but I came across a large Motorola box FULL of vacuum tubes, The little research I did on these is surprising, some sell for $20.00 some sell for $500.00!

Figured I'd offer then up here real quick and see if theirs any interest, If not I'll list them on Ebay.

Do any of you all tinker with this type of thing or know some one that does? I'm looking to sell/trade the hole thing.

If your serious I'll get pics of them and set up a BIN here. I could do a list but man! That would take a while...

Unless you hook the hose to the back end, then it blows.

Deerslayer, Ive come up with one 1 NOS RCA 6681/12ax7a and two 12 AX7 USA with 8 dots on it that were in a bag marked "matched pair" so far.

Doing some research on these things is surprising!

Just a heads up DS these vintage tubes are not cheep.

Wish someone would just make me an offer on the hole thing! Hint Hint....

I really don't need another Internet hobby.

OMJ, Thats funny.

If you want a real hobby try researching coins and stamps online and selling them, it'll make your head spin.

Tell me about it Jess, I've got hundreds of these things and most are still in the box and it still is difficult to find something. The darn part numbers are so close to each other and some I think are 50's and 60" military, Those are Numbered completely diffrent....

Looking at tubes on Ebay has been the most help, The newer Russian and Chinese tubes are cheep but these old ones made right here in the USA and the ones made in Holland are worth some cash!!  Mostly these are used in Amps it seems, Huge following of these guys playing with the sound of their amps by switching tubes.

In the 50's my father was stationed at a Radar installation ( I think in KY). Once per month they had to pull all the tubes and replace them with new ones regardless of condition. There were hundreds of tubes just thrown out every month!

Multiplied by every radar station? That's a big waste!
