I'm sure that Kentucky figure came from there being multiple purchases by the same people. Still and all, it's interesting (even if the figures are likely waaaay off) that the states like Kalifornia and New Jersey which make it difficult to buy a gun are the ones with the fewest legal gun purchases. I hope it doesn't give anyone any ideas to do things like the D.C. laws which require a $550 registration fee to buy a handgun. I hope that the NRA tackles that next and equates it to the poll tax which was outlawed by SCOTUS. It just doesn't seem proper to have to pay to exercise a constitutional right. |

It would be like requiring a license to buy or carry a newspaper. Or a license to write for one!
You want to voice your opinion? Buy a permit, Buddy!!! |

Glad to see that my Bluegrass State is #1 on the list. I dont have to have a permit to carry open and would love to see the State drop the permit to carry concealed as it only affects the law abiding citizen and not the criminal anyway. |

5th !!!! That info CANNOT POSSIBLY reflect the true stats! Here in fla, the "FDLE" claims that "greater than 35% of all cars are carrying a loaded firearm". Almost Every person I know has at minimum of 3 guns( rifel, pistol, & shotgun). And, there are Millions of "private sales" here Everyday. And, in my home state, TN,(nashville) just my extended familys gun ownership would skew those numbers! |

"Every time I purchase a gun, there is no ck, I just show my CCP, and walk out." Not trying to nit-pick, but don't kid yourself! THAT IS A CHECK!!! You have to show that ID plus your drivers license, right? WAY more than an illegal alien! And don't forget you have the obligation of PAYING for that Right every time you re-new that CCP by having your picture taken and personal info checked and double checked under penalty of Perjury.

WALI - The truest thing I ever heard and the best advice I ever had come from Sgt. Williamson, one of my junior DI's, a black guy from the Deep South and one mean S.O.B.: "Privates, y'all doan' git in no trouble foah what you do; y'all git in trouble foah whut y'all git caught foah!" That is one of those "Truer words wuz never spake" things and I took it to heart. These are the guns they know about; undoubtedly there are many, many more. As long as we know that and they know that, we'll be okay. |

| (no avatar) | Well guys I hate to rain on parades but here in the socialist state of Indiana we now have a life time CCW permit and while it costs 125 dollars it only allows you to avoid the waiting period is all, the same paperwork has to be filled out and a goodly number of dealers are still running the Background check --on both the buyer and the gun naturally. But I was rather surprised when they came up with the life time permit --it was like 18 months ago I think. But as I said most dealers are still running a guy thru the system and from what I was told it is not law anymore but everybody is afraid of getting sued along the way-- so it still takes a stout heart to be a dealer in the Hoosier state. But we have fun things like the city of Gary does not recognize a state permit because they have a ban on carrying. And the law enforcement guys are hitting the gun shows checking things out and even the city of Gary sent guys out trying to do straw buys which we all know if illegal so they could have stats to support their warped reasoning. I suspect that is behind the extra checks too. And they will sue the dealers as well as they plan to use the evidence of the straw buys in their lawsuits against the manufacturers is what they are saying. |
