Off subject a little bit Hart, but I thought sure Tex was gone for good. Read in the paper where a fella in Arab ,Al. was arrested and put in the nut house. Seems that he wanted to live in a tree . He built a nest and was stayin in it neked when he was arrested. |

Back when I was in the military,67-73 the draft was still in effect. That bein said ; most everybody was more or less forced to serve, unless they were fortunate enough to come from families that could afford for them to go to college or get around servin some other way. A lot, includin myself would not have voluntarily joined knowin they would most likely be sent to Viet Nam,a place nobody ever heard of until politics got us involved in a political war. Some voluntered after they knew they were gonna be drafted,as I did, or because of trouble with the law, but few volunteered because of patriotism; patriotism more or less came after bein in the armed forces.I'm not sayin folks didn't love this country but few agreed that we should be in S. E. Asia fightin someone else's war at such a great cost to our own people. I believe that those that served were like everyone else in other factors of life. They were those that gave it their all . There were those that just got by and there were a small percentage of slackers To say that someone bein forced to serve in the military would not do the best they could is a statement without substance. |

Well now you done gone and brought tears to my eyes again carbob. Brad was a good friend and a whole lot better man than I could ever hope to be Since he died I have kicked myself every day for not spendin more time with him. He loved his family and he loved what he did.Life was not easy for him and Stana , they earned everything they had and were admired and respected by many. REST IN PEACE BRAD, I HOPE TO MEET YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER MY FRIEND. Jim OLD RATTLER |
