Thread Title: "Changes to Shipping"
AuctionArmsCeo

Some of you sellers might have noticed that under the High Bid column in 'My Auctions' your shipping price (if you've specified one) now appears.   We're going to be adding more shipping features to the auctions, so that buyers can take that better into account when bidding.  When you list an item, if you don't include a shipping price, the listed price will default to the word 'ACTUAL' - meaning the buyer pays the actual shipping price of the item. Additionally, you will also have the option of choosing FREE as your shipping, something not currently available.  If you have any ideas or comments about this change, please let me know here.  Thanks.

Good idea.  Now...how about letting us sort listings based on the Buy It Now price?

You asked for a comment, well here it is!!!

How about if your shipping charges vary?????Like mine do,I have a flat $20 ET,CT and $25 MT and PT on my firearms. With my smaller non-firearms my shipping again varies according to size, now i guess i will have to go back and edit 150+ auctions to get rid the ACTUAL!!

Instead of ACTUAL whats wrong with "see below" or "see ad text"??

You all seem to be fixing stuff that don't need fixing and you wonder why everyone is jumping ship. What we need is more national advertising to get buyers here, not big outfits advertizing ,WITH LIKE WARES, slap in the middle of our auctions and demanding a fee to have them removed.I have been selling here forever but i'm sure running out of patience fast--JMHO

WHAT HARTWELL SAID!

MY STUFF IS GOING TO ANOTHER SELLING VENUE. WHY, ARE YOU "FIXING" EVERYTHING THAT WORKS?

WHY NOT FIX WHAT IS BROKEN, TRUST BEING AMONG THEM. WALI.....................

Manny, not a smart move in my opinion. I can't count how many times a potential buyer has either asked, "How much to ship to zip code 12345", or I'm not going to bid on an item UNLESS I know what the shipping will be. Of course the come back could be, "Just e-mail the seller and ask" if it isn't stated within the listing. Many sellers will not reply to questions concerning the item itself, much less about shipping.

Personally, I think that your intentions are more than honorable in wanting to improve the site and spur more buyers and sellers. However, it seems to me, and a number of others, that your efforts are actually doing the exact opposite. The Classic mode may have not been perfect, but I feel as if it there are fewer issues with it than the new mode. There has been many, many suggestions for possible improvements to the Classic mode over the few years that I have been on the site However, all but a very few, have fallen on deaf ears.

I still do not know why my ad listings do not appear properly in the new mode, but do in the Classic mode. I have asked why a couple of times, but no answer from anyone to this point. I use tha same ad template on other sites without a hitch, but not here. :~{

Manny - Want to ruin a business?  The way to do that is to ignore your customers.  The secret to success in any business is to give your customers what they want at a competitive price and listen to them when they think they have a good idea.  If there's a reason it isn't a good idea, tell them why you think it isn't so great.

You have in this site some of the most loyal customers any business could ever hope for because Auction Arms did things right.  Take heed and remember what made your business a successful one.

Bubba J - If I ask a question about anything and the seller ignores it, there is no way I will place a bid.

I want to say something - well, mmmm aaaa - I guess my thoughts have been pretty well covered.

So, let me just add ---

Manny - stop trying to make this site like the other site and build so much complexity into it that you require all those default values which have to be changed with each type of auction I list.  I can see the page after page of defaults to go through to list a simple auction in the future.

I have to agree with Hartwell's comment, 'What we need is more national advertising to get buyers here, not big outfits advertizing ,WITH LIKE WARES'.  You're trying to make this site feel like another site to make it popular.  But, your ignoring the obvious - they ain't gonna come without the "open for business" sign.

Sometimes the 'KISS' approach is the best.
