This was as much a strategic decision as a medical one. Standing at stud as a winner of the Preakness AND the Derby his fees will be astronomical. Standing as a loser of the Belmont would have reduce those fees. There was a question as to whether or not he could have won so they pulled his ass and sent him on to pasture life. Not a bad future actually. Trap |

Trap, once again, you are correct. According to a report on FOX news, an estimated $40,000,000 (million) in stud fees. This , was a very well thought out "bidness" plan, by the owner. WALI........... |

double - I knew that he's still alive. I was just stirring things up. It was a smart business decision. What if they had run him and not only had he not won but broken down and had to be put down like Barbaro? There's tens of millions right out the window. |

My ex brother in law worked at a horse farm in NY. They had a mare named Sweet Snow Drop who was out of a Derby winner. She was the sweetest horse I ever met. No bad habits, sweet disposition and a pretty strawberry Roan with a white blaze. Her foals sold unborn for 500.000 minimum. She had a colt about two months old that sold for 750.000 ten minutes after he was born.. Horse racing aint just about running fast. Trapper |
