A republican sweep of the elections this fall would make this a reality. Don't complain if these newly proposed laws affect you adversely. It's for your own good. |

It's a matter of increasing healthcare costs and longevity, Twelvette. We're living longer and health costs are spiraling upwards at a rate much faster than most other things. I'm sure you know what the word "unsustainable" means. In realistic terms when applied to this, it means that our children and their children will someday be working merely to support the healthcare system. Raising the ages of Social Security and Medicare means less cost to the taxpayers over the long run - which is what we're getting as average ages before mortality climb. The system was only designed to keep someone on Medicare for about 7 years. Now it's much higher than that and is no longer affordable at the rates we're paying. It's not a perfect world and no politician can make it that way, nor can you wish it so. I don't know what kind of car you drive, but it's probably the best you can afford. Yeah, I don't have a Mercedes, either. |
