Thread Title: "Pistol targets"
truncatedcone

It has been too cold and windy for serious target shooting with the rifles but last week we shot the pistols at 7 yds. when it was in the 40s and still windy

Here's the 1911 with 230gr. FMJ over 5.8 grs. Unique:

1911 @7yds.

Here's the DW .44 with 240 gr. XTPs over 24 grs. 296:

.44 @ 7 yds.

and the DW .22 with Remington Subsonics:

DW .22 @7 yds.

I just picked up a scope and mounts for the DW 22 and may go out to sight it in tomorrow.

Here are mine from Sunday

The one on the far left unfortunately was a hostage target, I need a little work with that one past 20 yards ( the vertical stringing is the staples )  These were shot with 22, 9mm, 40, and 45acp from a IWB holster with concealment, OWB with a jacket on or from the pocket and from all kinds of fun positions, moving, from cover, out of  truck, under stress, week hand only, strong hand only.  Good times!!

Dang I cannot wait till spring to get out and scratch my itchy trigger finger. Wish we had an indoor range around here.

Good work Jeff, although that poor hostage took one center of mass and one in the belt buckle - guess you could speculate that he died so that others might live Wink

I really miss shooting with a friend of mine who had room on his property to do that kind of shooting; he had a little course set up in the woods where we could try all kinds of practical shooting scenarios It was lots of fun and kept your skills sharp.

BTW That Dodge of yours is really Ram Tough; not a hole in it despite having the targets right up against the front bumper!

Thanks Trun!  Those center mass hit to the hostage are staple marks, But who cares because she was shot in the Head a few times! Surprised

At 7 yards we did real good with the hostage target ( no hits ) But as soon as we stepped back things got ugly.  What surprised me the most was drawing my 22LR NAA from the pocket at 7 yards and doing a 2,2,1 shot sequence the last shot being the hostage target and head shots only.  I was just point shooting with that little NAA, I've always bragged about how accurate I can be with that little revolver but doing some practical shooting with it really made me feel confident that if necessary I can put good shots onto the bad guy.

Here is my NAA, I highly recommend this revolver!!!  It's fun, Accurate and VERY easily concealed.

OMJ. I have looked at those a few times, just never really knew if they would be worth it. Think we might have to invest in one at some point.

I just have a question. Why wait till spring or nice weather to shoot? We target shoot at very minimum every weekend, normally more than that. I beleive practice in all situations. It may not be perfect weather when I am hunting, or even worse, I may not be able to talk the bad guy into waiting for a nice day to attack me. I say bring on the rain, snow, hot, cold, whatever. I am still shooting. Laughing

Problem is here we have a very nice county run public range and it is closed until spring. Target shooting on county land is forbidden.

That would suck. We normaly just go to my Grandpas farm. He has an area just for us to target shoot. I would go crazy if I didn't have a place I could go whenever I wanted to. The closest actuall target range to me is about 40 miles. We don't make it there too often with the outragouse gas prices.

Actually I have access to 240 acres about 50 miles from here but hard to get into the place in winter with snow.

Got a friend who invited me over to his house about 12 miles from here to shoot his new Springfield XD 45, think I will take him up on it. Smile

JC I think you and Hunter would LOVE that little revolver!  They make them in 22 short 22LR and 22Mag.  I wanted the Mag but the only way I can get one here is either have it gifted to me by my folks or find one used for sale that has already made it into CA.

Jess PLEASE let me know how you like the XD45, I'm absolutely sold on the XD line of handguns, My XDM9 is a dream to me, still can believe I actually own one! LOL  It is such a great shooter, comfortable, easy to clean, just an all around awesome weapon.  I used it to qualify for my CCW and was labeled a cheater...   Now that says something about the XDM's.
