I usually stay away from auctions with that many bids.  This is an auction site so bid often as they say, however, I like to bid what I would pay for item and go from there. It seems however some newcomers to the site like to nickel dime there bids and therefor the bids can go up to over 80 bids. Next time you see this check out the feedbacks and they are probably newcomers to the site.

It is an auction. You quit biding when you have reached the limit that you think the item is worth. It makes no difference if you bid once on 100 times as long as you realize this one simple fact and stick to it. No one forces you to bid more than you think an item is worth.

As a buyer, I still haven't made a single online bid since the 10 min rule was invoked.  I enjoyed the last minutes fervor, yes I lost many a race in the last few minutes at the end but I won some too.  But all in all, with the fast competition the prices went higher than with the 10 min rule. 

It's like watching nascar races with the 10 minute rule invoked, each time a driver passes another they reset the time to give the next driver a chance.  We all know the thrill & excitement starts at the end of the race, the last laps, the last minutes.  So if everytime Gordon passed Earnhardt they got a 10 minute rule, who would be sitting there at the end of the race watching the outcome, Not me.  Same as with the 10 minute rule for passing a bidder, I'm not dragging the auction out, so the item won't be sold as high as if there were a frenzied end.  I don't know how it can be said GunAuction does this only to benefit the sellers.  The guy that bids without having the frenzied race at the end gets the item for less. 

For example, I've been in those frenzied times competing back & forth in the remaining last minutes & have unintentionally raised the final offer quite a bit higher than I had wanted, only to benefit the seller.  So if I hadn't had bid, the item would have sold for a lot less to the lower highest bidder.

GunAuction should at least give the sellers the option whether they want the 10 minute rule before they list, I for one would take my chances without the rule & let them race without restrictions.

Amz ... did you ever see a -real- auction with a time limit on it?  "Ok, who ever has the highest bid at 9:43pm wins!"

ahhh... no

The 10 minute rule makes this work like an auction should ... it' ain't over until the fat lady sings, and every one has had a chance to get in on the action.  No 5 seconds left sniping.

I always just bid enough above the price that the bid bot would stick my bid on top of the sniper even if we tied. If he out bid me, well that's what happens in an auction. I haven't figured out a system for the 10 minute rule so I don't bid much any more.
