Thread Title: "Hidden bidders?"
(no avatar)

I am new bidder and have question. The item page indicated there had been no bid. There was no reserve on the pistol. Following my bid I was notified that my bid was not sufficient to beat the high bidder. Where was this bidder. I this actually away to say no reserve, but then hide a bid to drive the price up. Seems dishonest.

Or, maybe I do not understand the game.

Any input would help as I want to become an active bidder and want to trust the sytem.

Thank you,

Paul

Seibo- Welcome to AA!

What is the auction number? - Are you sure there wasn't a bid? You can click on the "Bid History" to see if there was one before you.

Are you sure the message you got didn't say something like; "Your bid was insufficient to meet the minimum bid." or "Minumum Bid Increment" ??

Usually the words "Hidden Bidder" will only appear on a Reserve Auction.

Hope this helps.

I had to go to 14 pt in Comic Sans MS for JohnT.  Poor guy is blind as a bat and he hasn't taught the dog to read yet.
