Thanks for answering my question before I asked it!
Wondered if perhaps I was lapsing into senility and had somehow set up two of the auctions to close Monday in error! |

| (no avatar) | By AuctionArms extending the close of the auction through today (due to technical issues on your side), it has created mass confusion for the original winners of the auctions I had closing yesterday (Sunday). These original winners were sent Winner Notifications by AA thus believing they had won. Then the auction was extended and new bidders jumped on board. Not fair to the original winners. If this happens again, you need to find a different way to handle this. The determination to extend an auction (after a winner has been notified) should be at the discretion of the SELLER - not your site. I hope this can be a learning experience for you. Due to this mishap and the way it was handled, I'm possibly looking at bad seller feedback. That doesn't make me happy. |

| (no avatar) | So the policy is that an auction ending at 19:05 (I had an auction close at 19:36), just after the site came back online, was unaffected by the crash?? That is utter nonsense. Dozens of buyers had my auction on their Watch List. Hey, I realize that selling online carries its risks, but I strongly believe that the End of Auction policy with respect to system crashes needs to be reevaluated. |

| (no avatar) | Since I was in the bidding for one of the items in question when the site went down, now I'm a little confused about is happening with these auctions. I obviously don't think it was fair for the site to go down in the middle of my bidding and I was thus unable to enter further bids. So if you think the "original winner" was unhappy the same can be said for me especially since I am current high bidder on the auction extension. It has been my understanding that items go to the highest bidder not the fastest one. I agree there need to be failsafes in place in the system and a firm policy as well.

I also feel that when a auction is extended because of a outage that the "false winners"who received winning notification, should be notified of not actually winning ,by the site. If we,as the sellers, notify the "false winner" of what's going on they look at us sideways as if we are trying to pull a fast one. Announcing it alone,on the forum, only reaches a very few winners,if any, and leaves those folks who think they have won, in mass confusion. JMHO |

| (no avatar) | Hartwell, I would have to agree. That a bidder THINKING he won then finding out he DID NOT,THEN finding that the auction was extended and He WAS NOT informed,Would most definatly make life pretty hard on the seller. A notice that the auction had been extended because of the outage would be much easier for EVERYONE concerned. If this is possible ,It may save both buyer and seller and bidders some problems later.
