Thread Title: ""Expanding"/"Pop-up" ads, help!"
AA-bob

A small number of our users have complained about seeing "Expanding" or "Pop-up" ads in our Forum Pages.

We have some information that these expanding ads are featuring Advertisers that our broker is not currently running ads for.

First, you should not be seeing these expanding ads as a result of AuctionArms or our Ad brokers knowing action.

We suspect now, since they are being seen only by certain users (I still haven't seen one) that it's possible those users have inadvertently obtained some malware on their PCs that is causing the problem. So far we have received complaints of these expanding ads appearing only in the Forums. Has anyone seen one elsewhere on our site?

Please help us. Note and report:

  • who the expanding/pop up window is advertising
  • what the normal banner is advertising (i.e. are they different advertisers?)
  • where they were seen (e.g. Forum Page, Thread, beginning post number, elsewhere?)
  • if you are seeing these ads on any other sites or other web pages.
  • Browser you are using.
  • Operating system you are using
  • Any recently installed tool bars, widgets, Add-ins, etc. or other "freeware".

Any and all help in running the reason for these ads to ground is deeply appreciated.

AA-bob Anyone still seeing these? It is a mystery where they came from, where they went.

brainaxe Haven't seen any since the first and only one I had.

(Starkmojo) and (Ar-15Techguy) seemed to arrive at the same time as those pop-ups....hmmmmm?
