Thread Title: "Woodchuck"
josiewales This spring I planted another garden as usual and the produce popped up and I kept the weeds down and as the produce started to develop but I had a woodchuck (must of been a liberal socialist)and he wanted my garden more than me so I had my win 97 20in barrel loaded with homemade 00 buck (12),the chuck was in a clearing about6' and I shot at 40-45yds and one of the pellets hit him and he was rolling around and I jacked in another round but before I could get a bead again he ducked in an area I didn't dare shoot.Soooo 2-3 weeks went by and I caught him in the same opening but I used some law inforcement 00buck 12 pellets at 40 yds and shot, the dust just flew all over and around him and he took off and I swear he gave me the finger as he left.Lucy bastard.Well he was eating high off the hog alright so one evening I snuck down to the west end of my garden and stood there not seeing anything so I went into my snipers ness (an old hog house).I was cutting away the grape vines growing all over and happened to look up and saw Mr.Lucky stand up eating my potato leaves.I grabbed my 17 HMR and waited for him, sure enough he stood up again and I sent a little lead package his way and caught him in the neck and it was lights out right now.I am sure impressed with that little cal.It just blew up inside of him.I only had a window of about 6-8inches to see him.I drug his hind end up to where the cats were by the picknic table were they were waiting (The Wife has 35-40,We have spares you know),I opened him up and the cats thought thanksgiving was early this year. The next day I couldn't even find enough for a sandwich. That my friends is what socialism is about.

5thcommjarhead The last one I shot had to be the stupidest whistle pig I've ever seen. I was attempting to sight in a friend's scoped 10-22 without much success (I think it's a loose reticle) and this knucklehead comes out of the brush about 20 feet away from me - so I took a shot at him. He flinched, stopped, and just looked at me. I took another shot, again missing but noting where the round struck. He still didn't move. I calculated the proper windage and elevation from the first two misses and the third round nailed him.

josiewales The shot wasn't very far about 35 yds but was alot of green folage from the tomato plants and tomato cages were closer together and could only see him when he stood up eating and checking around(for me I suppose).Days before I caught him and he heard me and took off and I could see the plants move but not see him.I got lucky this time.I sighted the 17 in for 100yds and I aimed at his neck and thats where it ended up.I have sighted in hipower cal's for 100-200 and when I had a real close shot I ended up shooting high so I made sure this time. When I was a young fella I sighted my 06 in for 200yds and I snuck up on a sleeping fox about 75yds and I shot and shot high, parted his hairs and he took off like you press the start button but I took him on the run. There were alot of fox in those days and they come down with the mange and screwed the fox hunting. Now its coyotes I'm guning for and have to wait til it snows.

5thcommjarhead That .17 is a mighty flat shooting little round. BTW, I did get that chuck on the run with the third shot. A little Kentucky windage and elevation and a lot of dumb luck!
