Thread Title: "Our New Listing process"
AA-bob

Overview: Solved problems, added suggested items, left old "List an Item" process available

Why we did this:

We addressed several user complaints and suggestions in developing the new “List and Item” application.

Principle among suggestions and complaints addressed were:
  • Need a solution to the problem of loosing information if clicking the “Back” arrow in your browser
  • Create a way to upload pictures much more quickly and in the correct format and best sizing to display in your auctions.
  • A way to list an auction under a second category when you have items that fit more than one.
  • A way to set an “End Time” for your auctions,

What our New Listing process does:

  • Solves the “Back Button” problem
  • Incorporates Aurigma Image Uploader Technology to speed picture loading.
  • Provides a onetime ActiveX link to download user side (safe and virus free) Image uploader for your auction.
  • Incorporates Both “Select End” and “Select Start” times special features for your auctions (“Old List an Item” only has “Select Start” option).
  • Allows seller to list their auction in a second category and allows it to be found under search in both categories.

    Changes in the Listing process:

Unlike the “Old List an Item”, the picture selection/listing process is at the end. Pictures and thumbnail selection are added AFTER the item is “posted”.

Click on “List an Item” then complete and finish the:
    • Main Category/additional category: category selection(s).
    • Special Services: selection of special features of your auction. Like
    • Listing Enhancements
    • AutoExtension
    • Bidder Screening
    • Short (manufacturer, Detailed Description, Payment Requirements/Shipping Instructions
    • Auction Type Selection
    • Starting Price
    • Bid Increment
    • Buy It Now Option
    • State Shipped from
    • Start Time (optional)/End Time (optional)
    • Post The Item: Click the “Post Item” Button
    • Review the Item: On clicking the “Post Item” Button, your auction will be created for review and creation/change.
    • Once you are satisfied with the Auction, click the “I’ve reviewed the auction above – create it”

    Your Item will be:

    • created
    • assigned an Auction Number
    • calculated for “Special features” fess, if any
    • Estimated Final Value Fees
    • Estimated Total fees

    ADDING PICTURES

It is at this point you are asked:

"Would you like to add pictures?
You can add pictures to your auction by clicking the button below. Currently, your auction is running, but without pictures..."

Now, click on the Thumbnail feature block if you want a thumbnail picture displayed in the search results and category listings. The First Picture you post will be the thumbnail picture.

Click the “Add Pictures to this Auction” button to add your pictures.

If this is the first time you have used our new pictures adding process you see a warning box that says

“Did you notice the Information Bar?” ….

After reading this message click on the OK box.

Look closely at the upper part of this “Upload your Pictures” Browser Window.

Find and click on the Bar that has a Blue shield and says “This site might require the following ActiveX control: ‘ImageUploader5control’ from ‘Aurigma Inc.’. Click here to install…”

Then click on the “Install ActiveX Control…” option in the drop down menu

A Box will pop up asking “Do you want to install this Software?”

Click the “Install” button to install the ActiveX control

    If you see this window,

"You may upload up to 30 pictures to your auction. The window below acts like your standard Windows Explorer window, with extended features available via the right-click button on your mouse. You even have the option of rotating your pictures by clicking on the rotate icons in the bottom left and right corners of every picture. Enjoy!

Image Uploader ActiveX control is necessary to upload your files quickly and easily. You will be able to select multiple images in user-friendly interface instead of clumsy input fields with Browse button. Installation will take up to few minutes, please be patient. To install Image Uploader, please click on the Information Bar and select Install ActiveX Control from the drop down menu. After page reload click Install when you see the control installation dialog.

Odds are, if you can see this message, then the download did not properly run. If you don't see the information bar, or prompt for installing Aurigma OR if the install appears to run, but you don't see the interface for uploading files to Auction Arms, please click here to manually download the Aurigma Image Uploader to your machine, and click on Save. AFTER you've saved the .msi file to your machine, click on Run to install the program - then click the RELOAD button on your browser to see the installed program.

Click on the click here link or go to http://postitem.auctionarms.com/ImageUploaderRedistributable.msiand do a one time manual download and install Aurigma, click the "run" button.

Follow the install instructions. It’s free, provided by us and virus free.

Installation of this ActiveX control will enable you to bulk upload pictures at lightning speed.

Once you’ve installed your Active-X code, a set of panels will appear at the Upload Pictures part of the Auction process. You will see a list of files and folders that exist on your PC in the Left Panel.

    • Select the folder on your PC where your picture files for the auction are stored.
    • Thumbnails of your pictures in that folder will appear in the panel on the right top.
    • Select and move the pictures you want from the top right panel to the bottom right panel using the arrow tools provided.
    • Once you have selected all the pictures you want and moved them to the lower right panel, (remember to load the thumbnail picture in first position) find and click the “Upload Files” button on the right upper panel .
    • A small window will open and give you the loading status of your pictures.

That’s all there is to it.

Old List an Item Process still available

If you still wish to list items using the “Old” method, merely go to your “My Auctions” page and click the “Old List an Item” button.

AA-bob If you have an incompatible operating system (see Supported Operating Systems and Browsers) with our new Aurigma Picture loading tool, and were able to load auctions previously, merely use the "old List and Item" button in your "My Auctions" page.

If your system and browser are compatible but are having installation problems with the ActiveX tool, check this link http://www.aurigma.com/Support/DocViewer/28/FAQInstallationProblems.htm.aspx.
