Thread Title: "Watchers"
(no avatar) Hi Bob: You guys do a great job and I have always appreciated the way you handle problems. I was thinking the other day when one of my auctions had 2 watchers and figured a way you could put that to work. I have a few watchers but alot of them never bid and the auction just rolls and I relist again. What do you think of showing the number of watchers when you pull up the auction. Seems to me that if someone is looking at your item and sees that there are watchers that it might spur a "Buy It Now" or a bid. That's good for sellers and you for stimulating a possible buy. Just a thought, let me know what you think. Thanks Dave

AA-bob Hmmm, now that's a pretty interesting idea. Have to think that one through. Biggest downside I can think up off the top is somebody's bound to figure out a way to "work" something like that if we did it.

(no avatar) Could you make it so the seller cannot activate a watch on his or her own auctions? That way it would keep things fair. Dave

AA-bob

HORSE TRADER, not so much the seller I'm concerned about, but the seller's cronies. Don't know how we'd get around the "salting" that would go on.

There's always someone who'll work a system to an unintended advantage.

(no avatar) Bob, you are correct on your assumptions. Just read the seller posts and you can figure it out. Some of the sellers would have everyone in the store watching it, two or three times. Cheers

(no avatar) See what you mean about the cronies but I would think maybe in the beginning it may be a problem but would also think it would become a full time job and would get old really fast. I certainly would not waste my time unless I were truly interested in an item. Hey! Just a thought.

Petesguns Even with the fact that it can be EXPECTED that there will be abusers, if someone decided to buy an item that had a bunch of watchers on it, chances are that they would have anyway. It could be an interesting tool.

(no avatar) nynn444: No one said anything was broke. It is an idea. If you don't like it just say so! I won't lose any sleep over your comments, that is if you have one.

(no avatar) Horsetrader; No offense meant toward you or your idea.

Just thinking how some folks might figure a way to use the system .

If AA could do it and keep tabs on it , probably a good idea.

(no avatar) nynn444: Sorry for coming off like I did. Nothing personal, but these areas of the forum seem to be getting too personal. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. I left my and I do mean "my" opinion on a subject and got blasted by "we" people, whoever they are. They seem to spend most of their waking hours on these forums and act as groups to blast you because your opinion did not side with them. It seemed to be ok for them to attack someone for a difference of opinion though. It is kind of sad that some of these forums seem to be under control of the few. They could be more constructive and help us all. Sorry AABob for getting off the subject.
