Thread Title: "New Picture sizing feature and pic display option speeds up auction browse"
AA-bob New feature notice.... We now automatically size all uploaded pictures larger than 600 pixels wide to 600 pixels wide. That cuts down on the download time for buyers. And we've also added the ability for folks to set a cookie that changes the default display of pictures. In other words, if you have a slow connection, you can opt to NOT display pictures, and view them individually. Comments?... -Bob

(no avatar) Can you set the "cookie" to load up the pics as they did before w/o having to click on "view pic" everytime and if so how do I change this? Thanks, Mark Kw

AA-bob Sure, just click on the "Show Pictures" link.

(no avatar) Why do I get stuck in a ad by clicking on the "Hide Picture"? I did this and had to close the site down to get out of a ad for a rolling block. Kept hitting the back button and it took me nowhere. Is it my computer or did something happen? The ad number is 5857048. This seems to be the only ad that this happens to. Thanks

AA-bob My guess is you have some sort of "internet accelerator" software enabled. Disable it and then make sure you are logged in, I believe that will clear it up. If the problem persists. Let us know.

(no avatar) I am really having a problem with the new picture system. I have clicked on everything there and most of the time I see no pictures and at times have trouble backing up and have to leave the site totally. I am no computer genius but certainly could work the old system.

AA-bob

Are you logged in to your AuctionArms.com account when this happens? Do you have accelerator software? If so, disable it. Lastly, you have to have cookies enabled and be logged in to AuctionArms for this feature to work properly.

If you continue to have problems, please drop a note to me at Bob@auctionarms.com and let me now your browser (IE, NEtscape, Mozilla, etc) and version. Also let me know your Operating system (Windows 98, XP. etc.)

AuctionArmsCeo I think I know what the problem is. When you choose to hide pictures, we run a bit of code that does a re-direct. After the re-direct, if you hit the BACK button on your browser, you'll be taken to the page that does the re-direct - which bounces you forward. It's a loop. You're trying to go back to the list of auctions you were viewing before, and you get bounced forward. After choosing to hide pictures, you'll have to go back to the home page and do your search again. The good news is, from that point forward, your pictures will be hidden and you can view them individually.

If you want to view pictures the old way, you'll have to start your search over again after choosing to un-hide the pictures.

(no avatar) The new picture sytem is compacting my pics and distorting them. I hate it! Do I have to make my pics real small for them to look normal? See Item# 5875230...my Colt is all messed up in these pics, and they were normal size when I uploaded them, less than 100kb. My old pics are fine, but no luck with new ones. Let me know the deal. (no avatar) Hi Honey - I'm home. Oops - wrong house (ha ha). All in all, I think AA and Staff are doing a great job, compared to some other sites that will remain nameless. However, I have uploaded some photos to your server which I can manage from "My Pictures" on the same. I copy the correct code from the photos and place them in my auction. They are great in the preview prior to posting and are where and how they are supposed to be. But, when I post the auction the photos that were previously their are gone and all I have is an "X" where the photos should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated and keep up the good work. Thanks and Best Regards Leo (eaglesnest)
