Thread Title: "Introducing.... Fibber McGhee's Closet!"
AuctionArmsCeo Something new for all Auction Arms users - Fibber McGhee's Closet! If you consider yourself an 'Old Timer', then you probably remember the old radio show 'Fibber McGee and Molly', that ran from 1935-1959 on NBC. There was a set piece where whenever Fibber needed something, he would run to his closet, open the door, and a bunch a stuff would fall out (depicted by the sound of many falling objects). Then he'd reach in and find what he needed.

We liked the idea of a closet full of sundry items, a veritible cornucopia of non-Auction Arms related items. Also, I spent a lot of time in an Irish Pub in San Diego during my days in the Corps called 'McGhees'. So we merged the idea behind the radio show with the name of my favorite bar to produce our latest masterpiece. (The creative process in action - I'm not claiming it's pretty - just that it works.)

Fibber McGhee's Closet replaces the old 'ZZZ - Other' category that was meant as a catch-all for such items. But unlike 'ZZZ - Other', all forms of auctions are available to be used. You can set your starting price at whatever, and even run a Reserve Auction if you like. All normal Auction Arms rules and regs apply, and we haven't really started fleshing out the subcategories yet. But it's available to be used, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

(no avatar) WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT THE SOUND IN THE NEW CLOSET. KELLY

AuctionArmsCeo I'm working on it. First, I want to make sure that it plays only once an hour, or something similar. We don't want it playing everytime someone views the page - that would be annoying.

AuctionArmsCeo I'm not sure anyone has listed anything is there, since we made the change. We'll see.

(no avatar) Auction Arms CEO; You have got it all wrong. Heard the program many times myself! Fibber McGhee or Molly never opened that closet. It was always an unsuspecting guest with both Fibber and Molly trying to stop them. Then there was Fibber McGhee's car. Every time he stopped it, it made the most garsh awful screeching sound, to which Fibber always said,"Gotta get them Brakes fixed!" Then when Fibber remembered anything, it was always different then the same incident remembered by Molly. Molly's memory of the incidence was never very complimentry to Fibber. So if you are going to remember old radio history, what about Jack Benny and Rochester and Jack Benny's Maxwell.Or Jack Benny's arch enemy, Fred Allen with the Baron Munchousen(don't know about the spelling) When the Baron started a story and someone corrected him, he always said," Vus you der Charlie." If Charlie vus der, the good Baron completely change the subject to something he hoped there were no witnesses to. Then there was Edger Bergan and his dummy, Charlie Mc Carthy. On one program Charlie was doing something Bergan objected to. After Charlie kept it up Bergan said," Charlie if you do that again I will flog you." Charlie came back with," Bergan you wouldn't flog your dummy would you!" And that slipped completely by the censors of that period who had banned May West for saying that Eve fed Adam applesause and women have been feeding men applesause every since. Everybody that caught Charlies remark just laughed and the censors apparently did not understand it. As if they had of, Edgar Bergan would have been banned from everything for the rest of his life and they would have burned his dummy.

(no avatar) For Fibber McGhee's closet can you put in the sound effects when anybody opens it with somebody warning them to not open it. We can always use a little more humor in the World!!!!!!!!

(no avatar) JUST DON'T FLOG THE DUMMY OR FIX THE BRAKES. WE KNOW WHO WORE THE FIG LEAF OR MAY BE APPLE LEAF. I'LL SEND SOME SMART PILLS FOR MOLLY. JACK BENNY CAN COUNT THE GALLONS OF GAS AS IT DINGS, THAT ROCHESTER PUMPS IN THE OLD CAR HE RIDES IN. THEN TV CAME INTO PLAY AND THEY DID HAVE TO HUSLE TO GET PROPES TO DO THE SHOWS WITH.
