Very impressive short rifle made in Denmark for the Colombian Navy in 1958, as indicated by markings on the left side of the receiver. This was one of the last bolt action rifles manufactured in order to compete for lucrative South American military contracts. Only about five thousand rifles of this type were ever manufactured. These rifles were manufactured in .30-06 caliber in order to take advantage of the inexpensive US military World War Two surplus ammunition that was flooding markets at the time. The rifle has a very nice stock with finger groove and pistol grip. The stock is fitted with the original rubber buttplate, which is a bit unusual on a military weapon.
The magazine capacity is five rounds. The rear sights are calibrated from 100 meters to 900 meters. The front sight has a protective tunnel-shaped hood. The barrel is fitted with the original muzzle brake. The are two military-style sling swivels on the rifle. The metal has original baked black enamel finish, except for the bolt, which is parkerized (original). No provision for the cleaning rod. The receiver displays the following; "Fuerza Armadas de Colombia " (see photos). The left-side of the receiver shows the manufacturer's markings, "Madsen M. G/A." and the caliber designation, "Cal. 30".
The condition of this rifle is near mint. 99% of original, baked black enamel finish on metal parts. The bolt has about 95% of original Parkerized-type finish. Bore is also in excellent condition, with strong and shiny rifling. The action is strong and smooth. Mechanically, the rifle is in excellent condition. All the internal parts of the rifle are in excellent condition, with no visible wear. All the markings and numbers are clearly visible on the metal. The stock has all it's finish and it's free of any markings, which is typical for Madsen rifles but there are some handling dings in the stock. (see photos). There are no import markings on the rifle. Included with this M47 is the original sling which is in near perfect condition. Also, you'll be getting the the original bayonet and sheath. They are both in perfect and un-molested condition. Serial#: 4973-58. STK.#: 18317.
