Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Iver Johnson Arms, Inc. -- IVER JOHNSON CHAMPION 16 GAUGE

What could have been a great old Iver Johnson Champion but instead it is a little beat up. Someone has taken the time to have her reblued and stock refinished but the butt stock is cracked thru the tang on the top and bottom and the side...I believe the butt to have been replaced and poor fitting caused the cracking.Someone inlaid a hummingbird in the stock for sentimental reasons I'm sure. The hammer is good, it is shown with a hammer extension and the reciever has a goldish green and rose color from processing it . The stampings are buffed hard but the 16 gauge, Iver Johnson and part of Champion are legible. Barrel is 30" long, the bore shows some pitting from some point in time , break lever wigles from left to right but the action is very tight. I guess you could call this a project piece...it appears ther is still alot of use in this old girl if you have the means of making her whole again.

Q:  How is the bore? Any rust or pitting? You mentioned the break tang has some wiggle. Are you talking about the lever to release the barrel? 06/21/2010
A:  yes, I am refering to the break lever...it has some side to side movement but the action is tight and the bore has some light pitting. The bore is bright and shiney but there is still evidence of some pitting from some point in time. 06/21/2010
