Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Enfield -- Percussion Musket

You're bidding on a Percussion Musket believed to be an Enfield M1858 rifle, serial # NVSN, cal. 577, has a 32 1/2" barrel with a poor to fair bore, two split type blued barrel bands secured with screws hold the barrel in place, stock has what appear to be two grain cracks forward of trigger housing, brass furniture, comes with a steel ramrod with slotted type head, front and rear simple fixed sights look to be period replacements, the stampings which I'm suspicious of are the brass buttplate & left rear side of stock which is stamped, "CSA", top tang of brass butt plate stamped. "No 378", the Butt end of plate stamped "SIROHI STATE / 1-1-16" with abrasive marks through the 1 & 16 with this said the rifle is in otherwise good condition. Note: the total number of these Enfield’s imported during the civil war is unknown but these long arms were preferred by the confederate armies and were also used by the federal armies during the civil war, overall condition is fair plus - good.
