You are looking at a model 1842 Springfield manufactured in 1848 at Harpers Ferry. As you can see this musket has not been cut and is full length. It has some imperfections. The main one is a slight bow in the barrel. A gunsmith could straighten it if you wanted to make the gun into a shooter. Otherwise it isn't noticeable unless you are actually sighting down the barrel. It has been heavily cleaned except for the lock plate. The stock has been sanded and re-finished with especially heavy sanding around the front barrel band (note picture). Their is some marring of the metal around the breach area. The ram rod is also missing.
