Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Marlin introduced the .38-55 in its Ballards in 1876. What indications are there that this is re-chambered from something else? 04/25/2010
A:  I did not think it is a factory caliber, I will correct my listing. 04/25/2010

(Public)
Q:  Hello, If the barrel has been shortened, what is the present length? Also what is the contdition of the bore? Please be as detailed as possible. thanks for your time, Bruce 04/26/2010
A:  The barrel is 22 inches long, the bore has OK riling but some pitting. Please note is being sold as an action and I take NO responsibility for shooting with this barrel. 04/26/2010

Q:  Although Ballard invented the .38-55, it was never offered in the #2 action. Check Grant. The #2 was cast, not forged, and was only for pistol sized ammo. You are right to be leery of this barrel. The threads are all the same, so any big bore barrel would still fit. Cheers George 04/27/2010
