Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Essex Gun Works -- 12 Gauge SxS Hammer Shotgun

Here is a 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun by Essex Gun Works. Ser Number 2551** This gun doesn't look to be a shootable gun. But you should have a qualified gun smith check it out before shooting. The barrel on the left side looks great the one on the right has a bulge half way up the barrel. It also looks as if the small plate on the bottom that holds the two barrels together is loose from one side. But from an outward appearance you wouldn't notice. Under the forearm looks different as there has been some welding done on the lugs. The barrel is 28" long and overall almost 45".The left sidelock is marked Essex Gun Works.Hammers on both side match. The hammer is cocked in the fire possion but when the trigger is pulled nothing happens. There is tention on the hammer though. I think because of the wood repair something happened. The stock is in rough shape, at the grip it had been broken and a bad glue job done putting it back together and with a plastic butt plate. The back screw on the trigger guard is incorrect. With all that being said I think the stock could be glued better after being removed and repaired the hang it over the fire place for deco. Since I am not sure of the date of manufacture I will need an FFL. If you see anything I should have mentioned please let me know so I can post it to this listing. I will assume by you placing a bid on this item that it is legal for you to own this in your state. Please send signed copy of FFL with payment within 10 days. Shipping will be $30.00. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. Email me with any questions or if you want me to send you the pictures. Thanks For Lookin

Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  has the glued piece come unglued and is loose. this question may sound goofy but i have good reason for asking. surely this gun is well over 50 years old and is an antique. a c&r would be all that is neccesary. thank you, Jerry 04/04/2010
A:  The piece that was glued together still looks glued together. And I believe that a C&R would be fine on the old shotgun. Thanks 04/04/2010

Q:  even with the welding does this shotgun lockupthanks, Jerry 04/05/2010
A:  If you were to pick the gun, open and close it you wouldn't know it had any welding done. As they did get the clearences right. Thanks 04/05/2010
