(#6M) This is a Stevens Model 58, 12 Gauge, clip fed, bolt action shotgun with a plain 26", full choke barrel and 2 3/4" chamber and a mirror bore.
The Model 58 was manufactured between 1933 and 1981 and this gun, according to the date stamp "(24D)", was manufactured in 1952.
The left side of the barrel is stamped "STEVENS MODEL 58 - 12 GA./SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION/CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A." and the right side is stamped "PROOF TESTED - 12 GAUGE/- 2 3/4" CHAMBER -". Also samped on the left side of the barrel at the receiver, is "(24D)" and "S.P." in an oval is stamped on the top of the barrel at the receiver.
The original blue finish rates about 92% with light blue wear on the muzzle end of the barrel and on the receiver. The plain, pistol grip Walnut stock is in very nice condition with no cracks, splits or repairs and only minor scratches and handling marks.
The gun features a brass bead front sight, steel trigger guard, hard rubber buttplate and a factory,detachable 2 round magazine. The gun will load and eject flawlessly and the mechanical condition is excellent.
This shotgun has survived the past 58 years in excellent condition and will make a great addition to a bolt action shotgun collection.
