Tokarev SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle. Curio/relic. Cal. 7.62x54R. Serial # B253. Manuf. 1942 Tula. This rifle was adopted in April, 1940 for infantry and artilliary NCO's, plus Naval Infantrymen and Marines. It differs from from the SVT-38 mainly with the cleaning rod moved to the bottom of the stock and the sheet steel forend assembly. The magazine catch can be folded back against the stock. This minimizes accidental magazine release. After the German invasion of the USSR in June 1941, the Tokarev was regarded as to complicated for continued production. Very few were made after 1943. This gun is in beautiful condition, there are no dings in the stock and the blueing looks 99%. The bore looks very good. The receiver, bolt and stock numbers are matching. These historic rifles are a real kick to shoot, not to mention they look way cool!! If you like militaries, semi-auto's or Russian arms in general, don't pass on this one, it's a real beauty.
