Gun: This is a Colt Police Positive, Target Model double action revolver. The sights are factory adjustable target sights. The gun is chambered in .22 Cal. and is serial numbered "36784" on the frame, cylinder swing arm and on the inside of both grips. The original Colt checkered hard wood grips are retained. The Colt horse and the verified proof stamp are on the left side of the frame. The caliber and model marking are on the left side of the barrel: "Colt - POLICE / POSITIVE - TARGET . CAL . 22" and the Colt 1926 address is on the top of the barrel. The back strap and trigger are checkered. The top of the rear sight base is matte finished. The Colt medallion is on both grips
Condition: The gun is in 95% original condition with only light handling and storage marks, there is light wear at the muzzle, a light scratch on the right rear of the barrel and some very light wear to the high points. The gun is superb. Rarely fired and rarely handled. The bluing is absolutely original, all markings are deep and all screw heads are sharp. The bore is very strong and very sharp. No pitting.
Included with the auction is a photocopy on heavy stock paper of the Colt Police Positive Revolvers section from Warren Tiift's 1952 book "Colt Cartridge Pistols."
