Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Ernst Thaelmann, Suhl, Germany -- Makarov - Model M - 9mm9.25mm cal.

This is a beautiful firearm. The finish, fitting of the various parts, the total overall look,feel,smoothness---whatever word you want to use to describe this firearm would still be inadequate to convey the level of excellance that is expressed here in the end product, the "East German Makarov". After you look this firearm over carefully, you come to realize why German engineering is excellance and is regarded by many to be the very best world wide. This one was manufactured at the Ernst Thaelmann Factory in Suhl, East Germany in 1962. Look at the 7 markings on the left side of the firearm, they confirm what this firearm is and when and where it was manufactured. The previous owner took real good care of this one, I see a very slight wear of finish at the muzzle on both sides and around the outside edges of the base of the magazine. Also, a double smudge going across the importer's stampings(Thalman mark) on the front of the grip metal?? Look at the pictures-----see the ones with the grip off? See the number on the bottom of the grip metal?? Did you look at all of the pictures?? Somebody is going to be well pleased when they buy this one because it is a nice one and I don't think there are that many around anymore?

Q:  Where in PA are you located? If I decided to FTF instead of ship using my C&R 11/17/2009
A:  Sir: I'm a bit uncomfortable in devulging that information-------allow me to offer some sort of an explanation as to why my reluctance. A few years back, I had a freind, he and his wife both had day jobs in the city. One day, upon returning home from work, they discovered that their entire collection of firearms was gone. They were the unfortunate victims of a well thought out and planned robbery!! To this day, the state police never found one gun nor did they even have as much as a clue as to who got them-----the robbery took place in broad daylight. That happened a long time ago----whenever I leave my house, that is the first thing I think about----I wonder if someone will break in when I'm away? Have a good day. 11/17/2009

Q:  I want to answer the question regarding the grips. These are East German grips....looks like right handers. The Russian, Bulgarian and Chinese have the stars but the E. German grips on here are correct to the best of my knowledge. hope that helps 11/18/2009
A:  "I thank you a thousand times for a most appropriate intervention on my behalf----------your timing could not have been any better. I had grown weary as well as frustrated from looking at search engines, forums, web sites etc. I shall let "Jules" know that you are the gentleman with an answer. May the good LORD bless you for your kind and unselfesh action. Thank you. Have a most enjoyable evening. 11/18/2009

Q:  no worries my friend. I have 2 E. Germ Maks and they both came with the black wrap around grips. My understanding the black grips are factory issue with the EG. Grips are EASILY interchangeable by removing the grip screw in the back....right now i have the Brown Russian Bakalite grips on my EG. God Bless you and God Bless America! 11/18/2009
A:  Thank you and if our paths never cross again, I want you to know how much that I sincerely appreciated having made your acquaintance under such circumstances. You helped me out of a desparate situation when I really needed it-------that kind action was the highlight of my day. I've spent the entire day at this ole computer and am now going to call it a day. GOD Bless you friend and GOD Bless America also. PS I did send "jfish1"(jules) the information that you originally sent me; as he was inquiring about the grips, I have not received any comment back from him as of the present time. 11/18/2009

Q:  Sir Of what significance is the number stamped into the grip frame, underneath the grips?? thanks Ted 11/21/2009
A:  Ted; I've been looking for the answer---------I've sent the question out to a couple of "search engines" and also to the "Makarov" main web page???????? I've asked specifically about the numbers on the bottom of the butt----I'm getting back tons of answers on everything else except what I asked for!!!!!! SO FRUSTRATING I'll keep searching and let you know ASAP. Thank you for your question and have a good evening. Jim 11/21/2009
