Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Albanian -- SKS Rifle 7.62X39 A must for SKS Collectors

Albanian SKS Rifle 7.62X39
A must for SKS Collectors

You know how you tell a collector from a shooter? A collector will buy a rifle, put it in the rack, and leave it there until he offers it for sale seven years later. I got this from AIM Surplus in November, 2002. It was too gunked up with cosmoline for me to want to clean and shoot it right when it arrived, and it turns out I have never shot it and finally took a couple inches of cosmoline out of the barrel today.

The Albanian SKS is different from most others. The handguard is longer, the bolt handle is like that on an AK, the butt cover has two doors instead of one (nothing inside either hole), and even the magazine is shaped a little differently.

Nobody seems to know how many of these were made, when they were made, or who made them. They have been added to the C&R list, which is appropriate, because they are rather curious.

This rifle, as noted, had a great bunch of cosmoline in the barrel, and the barrel is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The stock has some dents and dings, and the bolt cover has some spots of rust. All parts are original, though, and all numbered parts match. The import mark is on the underside of the front of the barrel, hidden beneath the folded bayonet.

This rifle comes to you pretty much as it came to me seven years ago. I did get rid of the cosmoline in the barrel, but the rest of the rifle is pretty greasy, and you would want to give it a good cleaning before firing it. Otherwise, you could just put it in the rack until you sell it to somebody else seven years from now.

If you have questions, please ask as soon as possible. I try to check things as the auction draws to a close, but if you ask too late, I might not have a chance to answer.

Payment and Shipping Instructions:

I accept the usual methods of funds transfer. There's no need for you to spend extra money for fast transfer, such as by wire, or sure transfer, such as cashier's check. If you want to use those, it's OK by me. If you want to send me a personal check, that's fine too. I'll have the rifle boxed up so I can send it off the day your money arrives, or at least by the next day.

I can deliver this rifle to three types of people--a federally licensed dealer in any state; a curio and relic collector, unless some dumb local law causes a problem; a resident of the state of Washington over the age of 18 and not otherwise prohibited from owning firearms. (I'm in Spokane. If you win and you want to drop by my house and pick up the rifle, we can do that.)

Once you get the rifle, take a few days to look it over. I warranty that it will be an Albanian SKS rifle that looks like the rifle in these photos. I do not warrant that it will shoot straight, that it won't smell funny, or that your spouse won't be angry because you wasted more money on another rifle. If, after looking at it, you believe my description of it was misleading or inaccurate, contact me and I'll make it right. If it is as described, though, congratulations on your new rifle.

I am not a dealer or businessman. I'm just a guy with more guns than cash. I make every effort to be fair and honest in my dealings here, and all the folks I've met here have been fair and honest too. Have fun, and keep those bids up!

Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Hi. I'm seriously interested in this rifle. Can you tell me what company you will use to ship and provide your zipcode so I can get an estimation on shipping. Once I have this, I will know how (how high) I can bid. Thanks 11/16/2009
A:  I always forget to put this in the description. I use the company you tell me to use, and I charge you whatever they charge me (I might round up to the nearest dollar). This rifle weighs 12 pounds and goes in a 52x8x4 inch box. Here are some long-distance examples: from here in Spokane, WA 99201 to Miami, FL, it costs $19 for Parcel Post, which takes up to 9 days, and $36 for Priority, which takes 3 days. For UPS, a trip to Portland, ME costs $20 and takes 6 days by ground, or $18 and 6 days by FedEx Ground. My experience is that FedEx does great in the air, but terrible on the ground. I recommend good old parcel post, but I will use the company and method you want. 11/16/2009
