Gun retains an even age patina overall wtih some light surface rust in a few areas and minor pitting. Fine bore is a little dirty but has strong rifling. Good working order. Stock may have been lightly cleaned at one time. Some chips out along the cleaning rod channel. Some very small holes, perhaps worm holes, on the right side of the butt. Good cartouche on the left side. Missing the cleaning rod. This was originally an 1864 Springfield percussion musket that was arsenal converted after the war to a trapdoor action. 1866 dated on the breechblock. 1864 dated on the lock.
