NO RESERVE!! Here's a neat little rifle that saw only limited production and was probably just a little too far ahead of it's time, cartridge wise. This is a Remington Model 592M. It chambers the 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum...a hot little .20 caliber rimfire that actually outclasses both the .22 Magnum and the .17 HMR in regards to energy on target. Unfortunately, the 5mm Remington rifles did not catch on and were only manufactured for a few years in the early 1970's (25,000 made) and the ammunition was discontinued not long afterward. Thankfully, ammunition has been recently manufactured again and a resurgence of interest in this fine cartridge has followed. This Remington 592M is a bolt action repeater with tubular magazine. The barrel measures 24" in length and is fitted with iron sights. The receiver top is grooved for easy scope mounting. Condition is excellent with about 96-97% of the original blue finish remaining. There are a few small scratches on the underside of the barrel and magazine tube. There is no rust or pitting. The stock is in really nice shape and is almost completely free of handling marks or dings. There are no cracks or chips and the wood has never been refinished. The mechanics appear to be in good shape however the bolt does like to bind a little and is not as smooth as your usual centerfire rifle. The bore is excellent...bright with sharp rifling. The barrel date code is "AX" for March, 1973 production. This is a nifty little rifle that ought to make a great lightweight plinker or varmint gun. Buyer pays $25.00 shipping.
