Although someone's gotten a little creative with the addition of a Walking Liberty Half-Dollar glued to the butt stock (see photo), this is still a fine, collectible rifle from the days when machinists made guns! (Rather than machines making guns!). Other criticism of the FN-49 being auctioned might be the addition of different type of buttplate than the original..(see photo)..it's not too distracting, but worth mentioning. Bore is slightly dark, but features excellent riflings. Rifle is semi-automatic, box-mag fed, chambered 8mm Mauser, has import stamp of CAI, ST. Albans, VT stamped in small letters underside front of muzzle. S/N of the rifle being auctioned: 33068. Interesting to note that on page 3 of SOG's October sales flyer there is a similar FN-49 for sale at $895. This one can be bought for a LOT LESS than theirs!! See photos! Excellent rifle, we feel. We accept your visa/mc/discover with NO surcharge, same day shipping if you'll FAX us the required license or C&R. PLease add only $15 shipping (it's a heavy gun!). Use our buy-it-now, and we'll pay the entire UPS freight bill to your door -- you pay only what you bid!!
