Questions for Users
(Public)
Q:  Can you advise me by photo or email how much of a 7mm bullet is exposed to neck of the brass after inserting in the muzzle? It would be the space between where bullet settles on muzzle to the neck of the brass. It's an "old Indian trick" when muzzle gauging Garand barrels isn't possible. In my ignorance I've purcase a couple of rifles that swallowed the bullet only stopping from falling through by the shoulder of the brass thereby signaling a worn or shot out barrel. Thanks in advance for your answer. Also, is the darkness in the barrel limited only to the grooves and does it appear the grooves will clean up? Thanks again, DH 06/17/2009
A:  I'll post a photo on the auction tomorrow. The darkness is moderate and only limited to the grooves. The rifling is sharp & shiney. I would not expect it to clean up completely to a exc. bore. Mike 06/17/2009

Q:  Hi, Why is an FFL needed as this rifle is pre 1899? 06/17/2009
A:  THe Lowe rifles were mfgr. and delivered after 1898. Only the DWM contract M1895's were delivered before 1898. 06/17/2009

Q:  Hello, I appreciate your rapid replies to the questions for the Chilean carbines for sale. Can you please verify your information about the Loewe rifle/carbine year of production? Almost every Loewe rifle/carbine I know of were made before 1898. The DWM made model 1895 rifles/carbines were made after 1898. Only the DWM model 1893's were made before 1898. Best Regards, XJKING 06/22/2009
A:  THanks for your imput. Can you cite me a reference? I would love to sell this w/o a FFL if it is legal. Mike 06/22/2009

Q:  Hello Sir, Ludwig Loewe ceased to produce rifles in 1896. There were some rifles with Loewe made receivers assembled by DWM after Loewe ceased operations. The "Argentine Mauser Rifles" book by C. Webster mentions this on pages 108-109. The manufacture date on several Chilean model 95 rifles or carbines should be on the left side stock cartouche. Many Loewe made model 95's were delivered to Chile after 1897, this is mentioned in the "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" by R. Ball. Best Regards, XJKING 06/22/2009
A:  OK! No FFL Needed! 06/23/2009
