C. Sharps Pat. 1852 .54 Percussion Sporting Rifle

This is a high quality C. Sharps Patent 1852 Paper Cartridge Percussion .54 Caliber Sporting Rifle manufactured by IAB Marcheno, Italy and marketed by Dixie Gunworks. Overall condition is NRA Excellent. There is a small flaw in the metal finish as shown in the photos. They got a little carried away when they cut the barrel alignment markings and created a small gouge on the receiver as show in the photos. There is also a small barely noticeable weather crack in the finish on the left side of the stock. This reproduction features European walnut buttstock and checkered forearm with satin finish, 3" drop and 14" trigger pull. The blued 54 caliber barrel is 29" long tapered round 1.225" at breech to .812" at muzzle, button rifled .005" deep, 1-60" twist, 7 lands measure .540" and 7 grooves measure .550". Front sight is steel base and blade, rear sight is steel with flip-up elevator marked to 800 yards. Steel furniture blued, color casehardened lock, receiver and buttplate. Single trigger. Percussion with 5/16x20 nipple uses musket caps. Load with 60 grains FFFg black powder and .544 conical bullet. Overall length is 46 1/4" and total weight is 8 lbs. Classified as an Antique – No FFL transfer required.
