You're looking at two Colt Blackpowder 1971 Commemoratives. One Commemorative is a Ulysses S. Grant 1851 Navy replica blackpowder revolver and the other Commemorative is a Robert E. Lee 1851 Navy replica blackpowder revolver. Both guns are unfired and in excellent condition with matching serial numbers. Each gun has it's own walnut presentation case and as mentioned the serial number (3915) on each gun matches. We're not sure if this is the Lee-Grant set since each gun has it's own presentation case, and not one large case for both guns. Both presentation cases include a bullet mould, powder measure, combination nipple tool/screwdriver and empty cap tin. There is also one instruction manual with a warranty card (see photos).
Both guns are .36 caliber blackpowder revolvers with 7-1/2" octagon barrels. Both barrels and roll-engraved cylinders are finished blue with a color case frame and silver plated trigger guard. The finish on both guns is 99% with both guns showing beautiful case on the frame. Both guns have a few thin scratches in the left-side of the barrel near the wedge pin and there's some tarnish on the silver from the guns being stored, otherwise these revolvers are like-new with the finish being in excellent condition (see photos).
Each walnut presentation case is hinged with brass hardware and has an inlaid Colt medallion on the top with compartments inside the case to house the gun and accessories. The Ulysses S. Grant presentation case is lined with blue velvet in the inside bottom of the case and blue silk in the inside top of the case. The inside top and outside top of the case is stamped "ULYSSES S. GRANT COMMEMORATIVE" "NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE". The Robert E. Lee presentation case is lined with gray velvet in the inside bottom of the case and gray silk in the inside top of the case. The inside top and outside top of the case is stamped "ROBERT E. LEE COMMEMORATIVE" "NINETEEN SEVENTY ONE" (see photos).
The Ulysses S. Grant case is in very good condition with just a few very minor handling marks. The Robert E. Lee case has a few more handling marks with some scuffs and small scratches, but overall is in good condition. The inside of each case is also in good condition, however there is a snag in the gray silk that lines the inside top of the Robert E. Lee case. Both walnut presentation cases come their cardboard shipping sleeves. The ends on both cardboard sleeves are torn and taped with the cardboard shipping boxes being in poor shape. Serial #3915 USG and #3915 REL.
