WELLS FARGO 10 GAGE AMERICAN ARMS CO.SHOTGUN This very fine quality 10 gage shotgun was used by the Wells Fargo & Company at the Carson City Nevada depot & is so marked. It was made by the American Arms Company; 103 Milk Street, Boston Massachusetts in the mid 1880’s. It is a double barreled, side by side 10 gage back action shotgun with twin external hammers, twin triggers with damascus twist 32’ barrels. It is a side break action that opens to the right by pushing a button forward between the hammers. It is marked with the company name in the following places: Bar between the barrels on top - “AMERICAN ARMS CO. BOSTON” Both lock plates - “AM ARMS CO” (over) “BOSTON” The Wells Fargo markings: Under side of the barrels on the breech plate –“ W. F. & CO” Right side of the stock - “W F & Co (over) C C” (stands for Carson City Depot). It is a fully functional shotgun & is in very good condition. The barrels are not dented, the brass ball front sight is still attached & the wood is very nice without any scratches, gorges or splits & retains 90% of the original finish All the makers & Wells Fargo marks are clearly visible & easy to read. It comes with a letter from the grandson of the collector who bought it in Carson City Nevada in 1925 & from whom this shotgun was purchased, a certificate of authenticity & historical research.
