Up for auction is a *New In Box * Beretta Mato in .280. This bolt-action rifle was introduced in 1998. It is based on the Mauser mechanism, has a synthetic stock, and is a descendant of the Model 500. The Mato is named after the Dakota word for "bear," and is known for the quality of its construction. The receiver is machined from a single block of high-quality steel, and the extractor has a large claw to ensure trouble-free extraction of spent rounds. This extractor also acts to guide the next round properly into the chamber. The magazine is a removable box, but may also be loaded from the top through the chamber. The barrel is cold-forged for extra strength and durability. The standard trigger is adjustable. The Mato is drilled and tapped for a telescopic sight.
