This is a Colt Officers Model Match (Fifth Issue) .38 SPECIAL match grade target pistol. These guns were manufactured between 1953 and 1969. The Fifth Issue Officers Model Match features a 6" tapered barrel, wide spur hammer, adjustable Accro rear sight and wide target-style grips. The bore on this one is in excellent condition. This auction is for the gun only, we do not have the box or any papers for this gun.
The left-side of the barrel is marked "OFFICERS MODEL MATCH" with "CAL..38 SPECIAL" below. The left-side of the frame is stamped with the Rampant Colt and the inside of the frame and crane are stamped with a serial number of "916289". The right side of the barrel has the single line barrel address (see photos).
The gun has it's original blue finish which is at 95%. The blue is slightly worn at the sides of the muzzle and there are some small spots of surface rust on the sides of the frame and both sides of the trigger (see photos). The sides of the hammer have some scratches and a few small spots of staining, otherwise the metal is in excellent condition and the finish looks great (see photos).
As mentioned, the gun is equipped with Colt checkered walnut Target Grips, each with the Colt Medallion. The top-rear corner of the left-grip has been filed-down and the checkering has been removed in this area. It appears that someone did this to create a smooth area where your thumb can be rested (see photos). There's also a few small scratches in the grips and a mark in the checking on the right-grip, otherwise the grips are in decent condition with no cracks (see photos).
Overall this revolver is in excellent condition mechanically and very good in appearance. Serial #916289. STK. #13580.
