NO RESERVE!! Among the rarest of Remington military rifles, this is a Model 1934 rifle that was manufactured for Honduras. It is called the "Last of the Enfield's" because the Model 1934 was the final military Enfield contract manufactured by Remington. Following WWI, Remington had thousands of receivers, and barrels left over from their military contracts which they began to use for their Model 30S Express rifle. During the lean times of the Great Depression the Model 30S wasn't selling too well, so Remington decided to get into the military contract rifle business. A small contract was manufactured for Honduras for a modified Remington Enfield, utilizing 30S receivers but chambered for the 7X57mm Mauser cartridge. The contract was very small at only 3000 rifles. These Model 1934's saw heavy use during the Honduran Indian wars of the 1930-1940's and the jungle climate rapidly went to work on them. A few hundred were eventually imported back into the US but most of those had their actions cannibalized for sporter rifles. An original Honduran 1934 Enfield is a rare thing today.
This rifle came out of an advanced military rifle collection, who's owner said that he has only seen only one other Model 1934 in his life, and that one was in very poor condition. This rifle is actually in very fine condition considering the Model and it's history. For a Remington or Enfield collector, this is definitely a very hard to aquire piece.
The rifle does show military usage. There are numerous dents and dings in the stock and the letters "EE" are marked forward of the bottom band. There are no cracks or repairs and the stock has not been sanded. The metal finish is very thin and there is some pitting along the wood line on the receiver. The rifle is serial numbered 3878, the bolt is numbered 5945. I do not see any import markings on the rifle. The mechanics appear to be in good working order. The bore rates fair to good and is quite shootable...actually quite outstanding for this model.
It is interesting to note the matted top portions of the receiver and the right rear of receiver drilled for a receiver sight (like the Model 30S Express and correct for this rifle). Comes with a 30-40 Krag Tropical sling that was surplus from the Spanish American War. The previous owner did not add this sling on this rifle and has been on it for at least between 25 and 30 years that he knows of, and he believes it to be correct. A very hard to find rifle, you may not see another like it for quite some time! Remington Model 1934 Info Buyer pays $25.00 shipping. A C&R License is acceptable for transfer.
