This Scheintod Pistol is an antique and was intended as a Gas gun or sometimes as a flare gun. (Alert, Alert,..This gun should NOT be fired with gas, flare, or any other sort of ammunination at all.) It is strictly a collectors item. The Scheintod guns were common in Germany for personal protection in the late 19th to mid-20th Centuries. Many of them were brought back to the US by GI's. This one may have been intended for flares. I'm not sure. It has all of the original parts. It has wooden grips that are not split or cracked. On the left side of the frame reads: SCHEINTOD D.R.G.M. PISTOLE. On the right side of the frame there is 2 markings and an U. On the barrel has the same 2 markings and the U 45. Also, on the detachable barrel part reads: SCHEINTOD D.R.G.M. PISTOLE. As you can see, it has a detachable barrel. For the proof mark it has a crown over a U, from 1819 - 1939. Since 1939 only applied to guns for which semi-smokless ammunition is not available in the open trade. This very unique antique pistol is in very good condition. (Shipping cost will be actual UPS cost.)
