NO RESERVE!! Here's a Swedish Mauser "CG63" target rifle. These were manufactured using existing stocks of military Mauser rifles and reworked into extremely accurate competition guns. The recycled receivers were rebarreled with a heavy weight, non-stepped barrels and new target stocks were supplied that allowed the barrels to free-float. The trigger pulls were smoothed to match standards and the trigger face grooved and trigger guard serrated. The vertical thumbpieces were removed from the rear of the bolts to improve lock-time. Additionally, match grade aperture sights were installed.
This rifle is in very nice condition. It was built on a 1905 dated M/96 receiver. The barrel measures approximately 29-1/2" in length. The serial number on the receiver is 169363 and it is matching on the floorplate and bolt stop. The bolt does not number to the receiver, but all it's parts are matching to themselves. The rear sight was manufactured by Soderin and is in perfect working order. The original arsenal finish rates about 98-99% with little sign of any use. There is no rust or pitting. The beech target stock is in very good shape as well with only a few minor handling marks and a surface crack in the wood on the left side of the butt (a non-structural defect in the wood not caused by damage or abuse). The mechanics appear to be in perfect working order and the bore is excellent. There is a tidy import marking on the underside of the barrel (KEBCO LLC/SILVER SPRING, MD) and also a plastic device of Swedish origin attached to the barrel (it actually fits under the rear sight and is taped to the forend). I'm not sure what this accessory is for but assume it's some sort of ranging/sighting aid. This is a great looking example and I'm certain it must be a tack-driver as well!
