Guns For Sale - A. H. Fox -- AH Fox Sterlingworth Dbl 12Ga Phila PA Mfg. 1915

You are viewing a high grade "Ansley H Fox" Sterlingworth double barrel 12ga.shotgun with ser. 104273 marked on the receiver, barrels, wood & forearm iron and mfg. approx in 1915. AH Fox Sterlingworth's were mfg in limited production from 1905 to 1930 in Philiadelphia, PA. The 26" dent-free barrels are marked " Made By A.H. Fox Gun co. Phila, PA USA, Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel" with "excellent bright bores" and choked modified. The box-lock receiver functions well and is marked "Sterlingworth" on both sides with plain extractors and locks up "smooth & tight". All the rust-free metal parts retain approx 85% of the orig. blue finish with the remainder turned to a smooth even mixture of brown & gray patina. The walnut checkered pistol-grip butt-stock & matching forearm show a nice grain with an old gloss finish and some minimal lite handling dings with the orig. grip cap and hard rubber butt-plate. The orig. checkering is worn with some evidence of crack repair well done where the stock meets the receiver. The "LOP" meas. 14-1/4". A highly collectable vintage "Philiadelphia AH Fox" Sterlingworth 12ga. dbl that will offer many more years of good service and in "nice & clean" cond. overall. It's recommended that all used firearms be checked for safety by a certified gunsmith before firing.
