Here we have a Standard British Mark 1. service revolver.
The revolver was converted from its original .455 Webley caliber to .45 ACP.
All matching serial numbers (matching numbers are stamped on the frame, cylinder and on the barrel; there are no serial numbers stamped on all the remaining parts of the revolver
. British military proofs are present on all parts of the revolver. British commercial proof marks are stamped on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The Royal Navy property markings are stamped on the back strap, "N".
Complete with the lanyard ring. Barrel length: 4 inches. Single and double action. Bird's head butt. No import markings.
Dark brown hardened rubber grips are in fine condition with a few handling marks. The bore is in nice condition, with strong and shiny rifling. The chambers are also in excellent condition.
Strong, crisp action. All the internal parts of the revolver are in excellent condition, with no visible wear. All the markings and numbers on metal are clearly visible.
Webley Mk.I was adopted by British army in 1887 and was used extensively during the Boer War. Many were still used in World War One.
manufactured from February of 1892 to October of 1894; there were approximately 1170 manufactured per month, all for government contract. The run began with serial number 810 and finished with 39436.
