This is a Harrington & Richardson Model 1908, 12 GAUGE single-shot shotgun with a 30" barrel and 2-3/4" chamber. The gun has a CHOKE barrel with a smooth bore that's in good condition. The Model 1908 has a top-lever, break-open action and an exposed hammer.
The left-side of the receiver is stamped "MODEL 1908" with "HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO." below and "WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. MADE IN U.S.A." on the bottom. The top of the barrel at the breech is stamped "12 GA. CHOKE".
The barrel has about 70% blue and is starting to patina and has some light surface rust. The receiver has turned mostly patina, but still retains about 40-50% case. There are some spots of surface rust on the receiver. Overall the metal is not bad for the age of the gun (see photos).
The gun has an uncheckered walnut forearm and stock. There are some handling marks in the forearm but no cracks. The stock also has some handling marks with a few scratches. There is a crack in the top of the stock behind the receiver and it also appears that the bottom of the stock at the rear of the receiver is cracked (see photos). The toe is also cracked and it appears that a small piece of the toe has been repaired. The gun has it's original plastic H&R buttplate which is in decent condition.
There is some very slight play in the barrel, otherwise the barrel still locks-up tight. Overall the gun is in good condition mechanically and in appearance. Serial #A743694. STK.#11403.
If you're looking for a vintage single-shot 12 GAUGE project gun, it wouldn't take to much elbow grease to bring this one back.
