You are looking at a Remington Model 721 bolt-action rifle which was manufactured in February of 1950. This Model 721 is chambered in .30-06 SPRG. The gun has open sights with a 24" barrel. The bore is in good condition with crisp rifling and no pitting. The Model 721 is a 4-shot bolt-action rifle that has a plain grip uncheckered walnut stock. The side of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. The top of the receiver has also been drilled and tapped and there are Weaver bases and pivot rings installed on the gun (see photos).
The gun has it's original blue which is about 80% and thinning. There is some light surface rust pitting on the barrel and receiver. The blue is scratched-up a bit on the side of the receiver where it's drilled and tapped there's also a few scratches here and there in the barrel, typical of a gun this age. The floor plate and trigger guard also have some scratches with some spots of surface rust (see photos). Other than the few spots mentioned the metal is in good condition for the age of the gun.
As mentioned, the gun has a plain grip uncheckered walnut stock, which has it's original finish. The finish is worn in various places including the bottom and sides of the forearm and grip area of the stock (mainly where the gun is handled). There are some light scratches and a few handling marks in the stock, again typical for the age of the gun. There are no cracks in the stock. The gun has front and rear studs for sling swivels with a Pachmayr Gun Works red rubber recoil pad installed on the stock. The recoil pad is in decent condition with no cracks. L.O.P. to the rear of the pad is 14-1/8".
We did not test fire this gun, however since these guns are known to have extraction problems we did cycle some ammo through the gun and it extracted the ammo fine. Overall this gun is in good condition mechanically and in appearance. Serial #106771. STK. #11802.
