I am putting up for auction my Belgium Browning BAR 308cal semi-automatic rifle. I inherited this rifle from my father who bought it new in 1969. This is a beautiful rifle that is both accurate and dependable; and I'm actually quite reluctant to sell it. The stock set I figure is a grade II walnut with checkering on the forearm and pistol grip and the original Browning logo butt plate. The rear stock does have a few dings from use. the metal is a beautiful deep blue finnish, with the engraved receiver, trigger guard, and floor plate. The bore is excellant, a 22" barrel. Features include: front sight, flip up adjustable rear sight, swing away hinged box magazine, sling studs, drilled and tapped receiver. Extras: Weaver 1" flip away scope mounts (installed), Redfield 4X scope (mounted, and very clear optics), a small compass mounted in the left side of the stock. I will also include a set of RCBS 308cal. reloading dies, several boxes of factory and reloaded ammunition, and several boxes of empty brass. I have owned this rifle since 1991 and never did any reloading. I only shot factory ammo through it. The rifle was only used for deer hunting, and target practice to sight it in. The biggest draw back on this rifle is that my father had neatly engraved the year and his name under the receiver (not on the receiver)on the left side next to the trigger. The only other blemish on the metal is a small scratch/nick on the right bottom edge of the receiver. It does show in picture #3. Do not confuse this blemish with what appears to be a long scratch below the etching. That one is actually etching that does not show well in that picture. It is not a scratch. I am placing this as a reserve auction, with my reserve slightly below what I have seen other rifles of this type sell for. Considering all the extras, and the condition of this rifle, it is a very fair reserve price. Please feel free to E-mail me with any questions.
