This old single shot break open shotgun is marked on the left side of the receiver/frame; “WORLDS CHALLENGE EJECTOR”. The barrel is marked: CHOKE BORED and GENUINE TWIST and is surely a Damascus twist. The serial number is 9154. It is a 16 ga. and the barrel measures 29 ¾”. Mechanically everything seems to function, hammer, trigger, latch, firing pin, etc. The finish is mostly dark patina and bare metal. The bore is dark and has some pitting/corrosion. The tangs have been broken and repaired, welded/brazed. The fore stock is original and all serial numbers match. The butt stock is a question mark. It maybe the original with an attempted refinish or it may be a replacement, we can’t truly tell. The butt plate is in tact and seems to be original. One of our viewers told he has one like it, made by Andrew Fyrberg, for Sears Roebuck. He says his has the original butt stock and it has a full pistol grip with a black plastic cap and a bakelite butt plate that had an eagle on it and the name A F & Co. under it. Thanks Bill. Another viewer just told us the gun was made by either the Meridian Fire Arms Company (1905 to 1915) or Andrew Fyrberg & Sons. The gun was made for and sold by Sears Roebuck & Co. As a note Meridian Fire Arms was owned by Sears (1905 to 1915) and their entire production went to Sears. Thanks Anchor Clanker.
Attention Bidders: A word about our auctions………………we do not disclose our Reserve on a “RESERVE AUCTION.” The reason is simple, disclosing the Reserve defeats the purpose of the Reserve auction. Disclosing makes it a “Sale,” for that bidder not an auction, much like a Basic Auction on Auction Arms where the minimum selling price is listed for all bidders to see. We prefer the Reserve Auction and the “HAGGLE” feature offered by Auction Arms. About 40% of our sales are completed via the Haggle. In the Reserve auction you are not necessarily bidding to hit the reserve but to be the high bidder. That is when the Haggle begins. If you are not familiar with the Haggle process click on: Help & Info Often the Reserve is the price the Seller would like to get but is not necessarily the minimum price the Seller may be willing to accept. We hope this explains why we don’t disclose.
