This is the economy version of the famous Savage model 340. A bolt action .30-30 short rifle with a detachable magazine. Early version that has no serial number and features the European style "spoon" bolt handle. 21" barrel has a ramp front sight and a rear sight dovetail filled with a blank. Excellent bore and action. Even has a good trigger pull. The metal retains most of the original blue but it is getting thin, especially on the barrel. Light scratches and traces of light cleaned rust, again, mostly on the barrel. The well grained, light colored, hardwood stock is excellent but has a few dark marks on the finish. Includes QD sling swivels, a recoil pad to 13 3/4" pull, and a correctly side mounted vintage 3/4" Weaver J2.5X scope. In its time, this scope was made for rifles that recoiled, it is not a small .22 scope. It is still serviceable but has seen better days. All in all, a fine first rifle or camp back up! E-mail me with any questions. No reserve. Satisfaction, with my description, guaranteed. I don't know the actual age of this rifle, so I will need a FFL copy not a C&R. If a C&R holder can prove it is at least 50 years old, I will accept a C&R license. High bidder must be at least 21. Thanks for bidding and good luck!
