Here is a Gras Cavalry carbine/short rifle, model 1874/80 in 11mm. The manufacture date is 1877. The rifle is in overall very good condition. The metal is good with a little freckling and some bluing still present; most has turned a plum color. The markings are strong and clear. The barrel is marked S1877 on the right side and it has serial number 58915 and V and M J (both in circles) on the left side beneath and to the rear of the rear site. The wood is nice with a couple of hairline cracks (near the tang, hardly noticeable), just a number of dents and dings consistent with a weapon of this age (130 years old!). The cartouche is present but has holes in it and around it on the right side of the butt stock. All parts are present and work as they should. The numbers on the bolt match each other, but do not match the receiver. Ramrod is included, and looks to be original. The bore is dark and full of old grease; I have not attempted to clean it. Overall, this is a nice example in a rare configuration. Very few of these short rifles are seen; this would make a good addition to your collection. Please take a look at the pictures and ask any questions. Good luck bidding!
