*I JOINED AA IN ORDER TO AUCTION OFF MY COLLECTION OF FIREARMS. NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN FIRED IN DECADES. ALL ARE SPORTING ARMS, AND EACH WILL BE LISTED AS I HAVE TIME, INCLUDING THE CASE THAT HAS HOUSED THEM FOR THE PAST FORTY YEARS. PLEASE CHECK FOR OTHER ITEMS IF THIS PARTICULAR FIREARM IS NOT TO YOUR INTEREST.* This no-reserve auction is for a Custom Made sport rifle, serial number 104208, in .270 Weatherby Magnum caliber. I had this rifle made in 1971 by Dick Green of Oak Harbor, Washington. The action is a Mauser style by Sako Arms, made in Finland, and the barrel is 24 inch. The stock is a particularly nice, figured walnut with rare wood inlay. The scope is a Redfield three to nine variable power with Redfield single-piece mount. This is my personal favorite of the guns I have collected over the years. I have hunted with it during the 1970’s on probably eight trips into the mountain country of Washington State and British Columbia. More rounds were fired in sighting in the rifle before hunts, than in the field, which is the norm. In all, I probably have fired this gun 25 or 30 times, about a box and a half of cartridges. It was last fired in 1974. I have a like-new set of RCBS loading dies, which will be included in the auction. I have been always very careful with this rifle and the condition is almost like new. The one set of blemishes were a result of careless handling during our family’s move to Nevada in ’96. There now are scuffs and a small gouge into the wood itself near the left side lower corner, just forward of the wood inlay pattern. I have not attempted to make any repairs, and have tried to show this defect clearly in the last two photos. Only because of that single ding and scuffs, I will rate the firearm as fine rather than excellent and adjust the opening bid accordingly. Bidding will start at $400.
