Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Rast & Gasser -- Rast & Gasser 8MM Model 1898

This revolver will chamber a 32-20 round so I believe it is 8MM. The mechanics are excellent as is the bore. The cylinder holds 8 rounds. The finish is original and a good 75%. The top of the barrel is missing finish and needs to be cleaned. Wood grips are very good. On the left side of the frame it is marked:"Patent Rast & Gasser Wien". The Ser.# is ML165xxx and all numbers match. This revolver was packed with purple colored grease which kept it in excellent condition mechanicallly. The following information I got from the book "Pistols and revolvers" by Joseph Smith."The really remarkable feature of the design is the simplicity of takedown and lockwork. The trigger guard is hinged at the rear and its forward end is sprung up to lock the left side plate securely to the receiver or frame proper. When the front end of the trigger guard is pulled down, the left side plate may be swung out on its hinge behind the hammer. The stocks being locked by the plate and not by screws, may now be removed. When the plate is back, every detail of the firing mechanism is exposed for cleaning or for needed repair. The lockwork itself is double action. Removing the ejector rod and bushing permits the withdrawal of the cylinder." No Exports. C&R or FFL needed for this sale. $15.00 S/H.

Q:  Hi - what kind of markings are on the top strap? Usually there is a Wn-eagle-date stamp on the top. I'm looking for some specific dates. Any other stamps? Eagle, Lion, etc.? Thanks - John 01/06/2007
