Buyer Tip: If you're the High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume you're the final High Bidder. Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction if your Max Bid isn't high enough. You're not the high Bidder until you've been notified by email that you are. Seller's Description

Guns For Sale - Webley & Scott, Ltd. -- WEBLEY-FOSBERY AUTOMATIC REVOLVER

WEBLEY-FOSBERY AUTOMATIC REVOLVER, 6 INCH BARREL, .455 WEBLEY CALIBER DESIGNED BY GEORGE V. FOSBERY 1895, AND MANUFACTURED BY WEBLEY & SCOTT. PRODUCED 1901 - 1915, APPROX 4,750 PRODUCED. WEIGHT IS 2.73 POUNDS UNLOADED, 11 INCHES IN LENGTH, CARTRIDGE IS THE .455 WEBLEY MKII, ACTION RECOIL-OPERATED REVOLVER, MUZZLE VELOCITY 620 FT/S, 6 ROUND CYLINDER, SIGHTS ARE BLADE FRONT AND U-NOTCH REAR. WE HAVE LISTED THIS AS VERY GOOD CONDITION, BUT FEEL IT IS BETTER THAN THAT. WE RECEIVED A QUESTION ON THIS REVOLVER ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE FINISH OR IF IT HAD BEEN REFINISHED. WE FEEL IT PROBABLY HAS BEEN REFINISHED, BUT DONE MANY YEARS AGO, NOTHING CURRENT, BUT IT COULD BE THE ORIGINAL FINISH. THE PROBLEM IS WE HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE TO COMPARE IT TO, BUT TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST, WE FELT WE NEEDED TO INCLUDE THIS IN THE DESCRIPTION. IN RESPONSE TO ANOTHER QUESTION, THE BORE AND CHAMBER WALLS ARE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE AND SHOW NO VISIBLE PITTING. THE PROOFS ARE THE BIRMINGHAM PROOF MARKS LISTED IN THE "STANDARD DIRECTORY OF PROOF MARKS" BOOK LISTED FOR 1875 TO 1904, WHICH WOULD SUGGEST IT WAS A CIVILIAN PIECE PRIOR TO WWI. IT ALSO HAS THE BULLET & WINGS/W&S WEBLEY & SCOTT STAMP. THE SERIAL NUMBERS MATCH ON THE REVOLVER. THE LETTERS "ENA" APPEAR TO BE ENGRAVED NOT STAMPED ON THE BACKSTRAP. WE FEEL IT IS A VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF A RARE REVOLVER VARIANT WITH A LOW SERIAL NUMBER. IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AN ANTIQUE, SO IT MUST BE TRANSFERRED TO AN FFL DEALER.
